re:plyte

Draft

Terms

A working draft, published so the link is not dead. It is not a contract, it has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and the app it describes is not in the app stores yet.

What the service is

re:plyte carries a message to the owner of a licence plate. It does not give you their phone number, and it does not give them yours. If the plate is not claimed, a message waits until somebody claims it or is delivered through the QR sticker on the windscreen.

One rule

Every message opens with a reason, chosen from the list the owner set themselves. There is no free-text cold open. Owners choose which reasons they accept, can block a plate, and can set quiet hours during which nothing reaches them.

What gets an account removed

Using a plate to harass, threaten or follow somebody. Claiming a car that is not yours. Advertising. Automating messages. Using Nearby to broadcast anything other than road information. Your plate is attached to everything you say on Nearby, which is the point.

Claiming a plate

A claim needs a document check. A verified owner is genuinely the owner, and only one account can hold a plate at a time. A co-driver gets access to a car without getting your account, and that access ends when the link ends.

Paying

Messaging is free. Plus is €2.90 a month, Fleet is €0.80 per car per month, and a single masked call is €0.50 if you are not on Plus. Subscriptions renew until you cancel and you can cancel at any time. Calls are metered at what they cost us.

Emergencies

re:plyte is not an emergency service. If there is a child or an animal shut in a hot car, call 112 first. A message is a second step, never the first one.

Still to be written

The company name and registration number, the governing law and jurisdiction, the limitation of liability, the refund and chargeback rules, and the notice period for changing these terms. Those need a lawyer, and an invented version would be worse than an empty one.
